My journey into gardening and the magic of growth
Y’all, I’ve recently discovered something pretty amazing—gardening! Now, I’m far from being a master gardener (definitely still a novice here), but over the last six to eight months, I’ve found so much joy in developing this new hobby. It all started when I planted David Austin bare root roses, and let me tell you, I had no idea what I was in for. When they arrived, they were just bare roots—honestly, a little scary to look at—but I did some research, rolled up my sleeves, and got to work.
What I didn’t expect was the sheer magic of it all. It never really occurred to me before how something so beautiful could bloom from something so simple. I mean, I literally put these bare roots into the ground, gave them daily care and attention, and watched them transform. It’s been a real metaphor for life—putting in the effort, nurturing something new, and seeing it thrive in ways you never imagined.
I planted climbing wall roses on the back of my house, and with a little help from some Amazon finds to guide the canes, they’ve started to bloom! I wasn’t expecting any flowers this year, but the magic of growth surprised me yet again. It’s a powerful reminder of how tending to something—whether it’s a plant, a skill, or even a new hobby—can lead to such rewarding results.
This newfound passion has given me so much joy, and I’m excited to keep learning and growing, both in the garden and in life. There’s something incredible about seeing the fruits of your labor bloom right before your eyes.
