My take on seasonal hair color changes

As a hairstylist and colorist, the integrity of my clients’ hair is my top priority—*always*. I truly believe that healthy hair is the best hair, and it’s for this reason that I never do those drastic seasonal color transitions you see so often, like going from light to dark or dark to light in one shot. Trust me, it’s not worth it!

Why? When you make those extreme changes, you’re breaking down the porosity of the hair, and the color never takes evenly. It fades quicker, looks dull, and, honestly, it can even be aging. I’ve had so many clients ask me this year about going darker for fall, and instead of jumping to make drastic changes, I like to approach it differently.

There are *so many* subtle ways to embrace the season without putting your hair through a total transformation. It’s all about enhancements, not overhauls! I once read an article about Jennifer Aniston, and it said she’s kept the same classic style for decades—same hair, same fashion—and because of that, she hasn’t aged. You can’t even tell if a picture of her is from a year ago or five years ago! That idea stuck with me because it’s exactly how I approach hair color.

Hair color should enhance your natural beauty—your skin tone, your features, your wardrobe. It’s not about making a drastic change just because it’s fall! If you’re craving a refresh, go grab a bold new lipstick instead. Your hair will thank you!
